Situated in the heart of Higham, Lancashire, the Village Hall is home to Village meetings and events as well as being available for hire for all social events and private functions and can accommodate up to 70 people.  There is sufficient seating and tables to accommodate this number.

The fully fitted and well equipped kitchen complements the building and enables you to serve hot or cold food, whether you choose to cater yourself, or employ an outside caterer.

If you are not familiar with the Hall please feel free to make an appointment to come and take a look at the venue and facilities.  Marquees can be erected on the car park and linked up to the Hall if more space is needed.  Please note – the Village Hall does not provide the marquee.

*Please note – the Village hall insurance does not cover any Third Party facilities or equipment brought into the hall or grounds by the hirer, e.g. Bouncy Castles.  If you do intend to bring in such, please ensure either your own insurance or your Third Party Hire Company’s insurance will cover any injuries or damage and can provide a copy of the policy.  This needs to be forwarded to the Village Hall Committee prior to the hire.  We will retain this for 3 years from the hire date for our insurers – sorry for any inconvenience – thank you.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF USERS

• The hall is hired on the basis of the purpose stated by the Hirer
• The Village Hall Committee reserve the right to cancel the booking if it is intended to be used for any purpose other than the stated one
• The Village Hall Committee have carried out an overall risk assessment of the hall (a copy of which can be provided if required) but it is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure the safety and well being of everyone using the hall during the period of hire
• In particular hirers should carry out their own risk assessment of all and any activities to be carried out during the period of hire
• Hirers of the hall are responsible for any damage to the equipment or facilities in the hall. Any damage must be reported promptly to a member of the Village Hall Committee. The cost of any repairs or replacement will be charged to the hirer
• The period of hire paid for should include any setting up and clearing away and cleaning up before and after the event. The period of hire can not be extended without the prior approval of a member of the Village Hall Committee because there may be subsequent bookings
• The hall is situated in a residential area and hirers should show consideration of residents whilst entering, using and leaving the hall. The doors to the hall should be closed if loud music is being played inside and any outside noise kept to a reasonable level, appropriate to the time of day and any events in the adjoining church

Hire Rates:

As of 1st April 2026 – Rates for hire of the Hall are – for private parties, functions, clubs and non-commercial use :

One-off / non-regular bookings :

• Higham residents – £9.35 / hour – minimum booking period 2 hours *
• Non-residents of Higham – £13.50 / hour – minimum booking period 2 hours *

Regular bookings (minimum weekly / monthly) :

• Higham residents – £9.35 / hour
• Non-residents of Higham – £13.00 / hour

Commercial booking rates by agreement.

* Please note – for one-off events, i.e. non-regular bookings, the minimum hire duration is two hours.  Please ensure to include time in your booking for setting up and clearing up after your event.
In colder periods; 15 minutes before event start time is provided free of charge to turn on heating, if not already on, to give time for hall to come up to a desired temperature.
